Minister Ally engages Region 3 business leaders on Digital Government & Service Standards – INews Guyana

Minister of Public Service, Government Efficiency and Implementation Zulfikar Ally with business leaders of Region 3

Minister of Public Service, Government Efficiency and Implementation, Zulfikar Ally, on Saturday, met with the Executive Management Committee of the Essequibo Islands–
West Demerara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (R3CCI), along with representatives from leading regional enterprises and the Region 3 Youth Business Alliance.

The discussion focused on public service delivery, technology adoption in government, and the role of data in policy decisions.

Attendees learned about plans for ministries to document project work across departments, including public works, in a consistent format suitable for dashboard reporting. Officials said the aim is to produce timely, comparable data that can guide decisions and improve transparency.

Business representatives said they welcomed two commitments outlined by the Ministry. First, the government plans to enable the formal use of digital signatures across public entities and to advocate for their acceptance in the private sector, including banks. Second, ministries will adopt service level agreements with the public to clarify expected timelines and standards. Stakeholders said both steps could reduce friction for firms that routinely submit forms, contracts and compliance documents.

R3CCI leaders said the chamber supports measures that speed up approvals, standardise documentation and expand secure digital interactions for citizens and companies. The chamber’s modernisation efforts and its role as a regional business support organisation formed the backdrop for the meeting, which participants described as practical and
forward-looking.
