Nano fertilizer launched – Stabroek News
-promises higher yields with less use
Guyana’s agriculture sector took a step toward modernization with the launch of the country’s first-ever nano-technology fertilizer, which promises higher yields with less input. The new product, described as a “game-changer” for local farmers, was officially introduced yesterday by Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha at the Burma Rice Research Station, Mahaicony.
These fertilizers use nano-sized particles (1 to 100 nanometers in size) to deliver nutrients to plants more effectively.
According to a release from the ministry, the launch aligns with government’s wider efforts to boost productivity, cut farming costs, and advance climate-smart practices across the agriculture industry.
