Huawei eKit launches in Guyana – INews Guyana
Huawei on Tuesday evening officially launched its Huawei eKit location at the Royal Hotel, Mandela Avenue, Georgetown, marking the establishment of the company’s first authorised retail and distribution hub in Guyana.
The Huawei eKit aims to bridge the digital divide by introducing smart, reliable, and secure technologies across education, healthcare, hospitality, and home security sectors.
At the launch, Minister within the Office of the Prime Minister Kwame McCoy, in his remarks, hailed the partnership between Guyana and the global tech giant as a powerful symbol of confidence in Guyana’s economy and digital future.
He noted that the establishment of Huawei’s authorised hub is an investment which also aligns with the government’s vision for and actions toward a digital-first economy.
Further, he said that through initiatives like Huawei’s eKit, local businesses can access affordable technology and smarter connectivity which allows those small and medium-sized enterprises to adopt digital tools, modernise their operations, and increase their potential for competition in the connected global economy.
Speaking directly to government’s mandate, Minister McCoy said: “… a single vision guides the Government of Guyana’s digital transformation agenda: to create a smarter, safer, and more connected country in which technology drives opportunity and inclusion.”
“This agenda aims to build a citizen-centric digital ecosystem powered by innovation, efficiency, and security. Through initiatives such as the Electronic Identification (e-ID) system, the MyGuyana Citizen Portal, and the establishment of Guyana’s first sovereign AI Cloud, the government is modernising public services, enabling digital finance, and expanding secure online access across the country.”
Huawei eKit is a sub-brand of Huawei that provides digital solutions and networking products specifically for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). It leverages Huawei’s technology to offer a range of products, including switches, routers, and access points, designed for easy deployment, management, and affordability, with solutions tailored for different scenarios like SME offices, hotels, and commercial stores.
