Police last evening were investigating an incident on the Linden-Soesdyke Highway, which resulted in two people reportedly being killed and five others injured in a two-vehicle collision.

While the identities of the dead were not confirmed, Stabroek News was informed that the two victims were found motionless at the scene, while five others were rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex for emergency treatment.

No further information was available but a circulating video captured the grim aftermath: of a woman lying motionless on the roadway, a man unresponsive beneath a mangled vehicle, and another woman trapped inside a toppled car. Passersby assisted the wounded before emergency responders arrived.

Commander of Regional Division 4B Dennis Stephens confirmed  to reporters that the crash was reported and an investigation was launched.
