9-Y-O boy dies after beaten by cousin – INews Guyana

Nine-year-old Levon Collins, who was a pupil of Kildonan Primary School, was allegedly beaten to death during a confrontation with his 15-year-old female cousin.

Based on information received, the incident took place about two weeks ago as the lad was making his way to his aunt’s home on his bicycle.

Whilst he was riding, the bicycle’s chain slipped, causing him to disembark. However, the suspect, who was walking behind Collins, reportedly pushed him.

But the young man asked her not to do so. This reportedly angered her, and she again pushed him to the ground, after which she allegedly picked up the bicycle and threw it at him.

While on the ground and injured, the suspect reportedly continued stomping the child.

He was rushed to the Port Mourant Hospital, where he was given medication for pain, but four days later, he was taken to the New Amsterdam Hospital after his condition worsened.

There, he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and later transferred to the children’s ward.

On Saturday, November 22, he started to vomit blood, and moments later, died in his mother’s arms. An investigation has been launched into the incident.
