Ghana company to sign oil exploration deal – Bharrat
Awardee of the offshore shallow block S7- Cybele Energy Ltd – will on Tuesday sign its agreement with the Government of Guyana to explore for oil, Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat, yesterday announced.
“Cybele has advanced the negotiation with us to a stage where we have finalised the agreement with them and that is the company we’ll be signing with [on Tuesday],” the Natural Resources Minister said at the launch of the 2026 Oil and Gas Energy Conference, at the Aiden Hotel, Robb Street, Georgetown.
When it was announced back in 2023 that Cybele had won its bid, it was also stated that it was a partnership with Liberty Petroleum Corporation of the United States. However, Bharrat confirmed that the contract would be signed with Cybele alone. It is unclear if the two companies are still in partnership.
Late last month, and on the heels of the signing of the first agreement with a company from the 2023 inaugural oil block auction, President Irfaan Ali had said that citizens could expect another agreement before the end of this year.
