UG reopens applications for 2026/2027 academic year – INews Guyana
The University of Guyana (UG) will reopen applications for selected degree, diploma and certificate programmes for the 2026/2027 academic year from July 8 to August 17, giving prospective students another opportunity to secure admission.
The second application period follows the University’s initial admissions window, which ran from March 30 to May 9, 2026. It is intended to accommodate applicants who were unable to apply earlier, including students who recently wrote the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) and are awaiting their results. UG said applications will only be accepted for selected programmes where spaces remain available.
Information on the available programmes, application procedures and other admission details can be accessed through the University’s official website, Student Records Management System (SRMS), Facebook page and other official communication channels. Applicants who submitted applications during the March to May period but have not yet received a response are expected to begin hearing from the University by mid-July. Meanwhile, those applying during the second admissions window are expected to receive a response on their application status by August 28, 2026. The University is encouraging applicants to regularly check the SRMS to monitor the progress of their applications. Orientation sessions and the start of classes for the new academic year are scheduled for the last week of August and the first week of September. The University is also encouraging prospective students who missed the first application period to apply early to avoid delays associated with last-minute applications, late registration and late enrolment.
Further information on the application process, including a list of programmes with available spaces, is available through the University’s official online platforms.
