Road at Golden Grove blocked in protest over Quindon Bacchus

Traffic on the East Coast in the vincinity of Golden Grove is currently at a standstill as  relatives and friends of Quindon Bacchus, the youth who was controversially shot by a cop are protesting and have blocked the road.

The flow of traffic is blocked on both ends.

The protest which started just around 7 was being conducted in an orderly manner but took a turn when residents moved to block the road with  wood and other items.

It is believed the protest stemmed from the reports in a section of the media of the cop at the centre of the probe being placed on open arrest as investigations are still ongoing.  There has been no offical report from police on this.

Bacchus was laid to rest on Sunday.

Among those stranded are students and workers who were travelling to work this morning. Some persons had to disembark the vehicles they were travelling in and walk to the other side of the protest.
