Blinken and UN chief ready to support Venezuelan-led return to democracy, says State Dept

 (Reuters) – U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres spoke today and expressed readiness to support a Venezuelan-led process toward the re-establishment of democratic norms, the State Department said.

In a statement, it said the two expressed concerns for the safety and well-being of opposition leaders following a July 29 election that both challenger Edmundo Gonzalez and President Nicolas Maduro say they won.
