Paul puts Guyana in control against T&T Red Force
CWI 4-Day Championship
The Guyana Harpy Eagles, led by a three-wicket blitz from seamer Keemo Paul, took control of their key seventh-round encounter against hosts and second-placed unit, the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force, who sit precariously on 214/7 at the end of day one at the Queen’s Park Oval.
Paul ripped through the top order of the hosts to leave them stuttering at 3-31. Kamil Pooran was the first dismissal, as he was caught by wicketkeeper Tevin Imlach for four. Paul then removed Amir Jangoo in the identical manner for five before making his presence felt once again, this time sending Jason Mohammed back to the dugout as he was caught at third slip by Raymond Perez for two.
From 32-3, the hosts stumbled to 96-5. Cephas Cooper, who battled to reach 50, was dismissed by Veerasammy Permaul leg before wicket (LBW) with the score on 94 before Joshua Da Silva departed two runs later for 25, as he was caught by Kevin Sinclair off the bowling of Nial Smith. However, a 79-run partnership between Jyd Goolie and Kharry Pierre repaired some of the damage that was inflicted before the latter was dismissed for 38 by Smith at 175/6.
