GECOM meets with 16 political parties ahead of July 14 Nomination Day – INews Guyana

The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) this afternoon met with representatives of sixteen political parties that are interested in contesting the upcoming General and Regional Elections slated for September 1.

The meeting was intended to address technical issues ahead of the July 14 Nomination Day, when the political parties are expected to submit their Lists of Candidates.

But while the Peoples Progressive Party (PPP) and the Peoples National Congress-led A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) declared their readiness for the upcoming electoral activities, some of the smaller and newer parties, including the Alliance For Change (AFC), expressed several concerns.

Nevertheless, GECOM says it is ready for the September 1 polls.

Some of the other parties that attended this afternoon’s meetings were Assembly for Liberty and Prosperity Party, A New and United Guyana (ANUG), Vigilant Political Action Committee (VPAC), and We Invest in Nationhood (WIIN).
