Headlined by an ensemble of women, with a perhaps not-too-surprising endorsement in the mix, the PPP/Civic kicked off its 2025 campaign at the Kitty Market Square before what has been described by some attendees as a “sea of red” and under the watchful eyes of election observers from the Carter Center.

The event which started shortly after 3 pm was chaired by Minister of Local Government Sonia Parag, and the list of speakers included Minister within the Ministry of Housing and Water Susan Rodrigues, Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce Oneidge Walrond, Thandi McAllister and newcomer Tricia Richards.

President Irfaan Ali officially launched the campaign outlining to the large crowd plans to modernize the country, focusing on a robust digital society and extensive infrastructure development. A key component of his strategy involves a commitment to removing the “final layers of bureaucracy” to significantly improve efficiency within critical sectors such as banking and state agencies.
