Brickdam Secondary commissioned – Stabroek News
The government yesterday commissioned the newly rebuilt Brickdam Secondary School in Georgetown with the Education Minister disclosing that the facility including furniture and educational resources cost close to $700 million.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Irfaan Ali described the school’s completion as part of a broader commitment to transforming education delivery nationwide. “We are not just building back. We are building forward stronger, smarter, and more resilient,” Ali said.
The new school, located on the site once home to St. Mary’s RC school, features 22 classrooms, three staff rooms, two science labs, a counselling room, IT and industrial technology labs, three home economics rooms, and an auditorium. It will accommodate approximately 485 students with a teaching staff of 51, of whom 25 are fully trained and the rest are currently undergoing training.
