Suspect arrested, admits to setting fire to fish vendor’s house – INews Guyana




 

A man has been arrested after he reportedly admitted to commiting arson on a house owned by fish vendor Michael Ramnarine, 30.

The newly-built three-bedroom home located at Chesney New Housing Scheme was on Tuesday destroyed by fire – just days before Ramnarine, his wife and three children were set to move in.

On Thursday, acting on information received, Ramnarine confronted a man about the incident.

During the encounter which was video recorded, the man alleged that he was paid $40,000 to carry out the act.

The suspect claimed that an individual (name withheld), who had an issue with Ramnarine, hired him and also supplied the gasoline.

The suspect was handed over to the police and has since provided vital information to aid with the investigation.

The suspect remains in police custody.
