GPL says explosion resulted in shutdown
The Guyana Power and Light (GPL) today said that there was an explosion at its Kingston Power Plant which resulted in a shutdown of the Demerara-Berbice Interconnected System.
At around 3 pm today, GPL said that power has been restored to approximately 98 percent of customers with the exception of customers of Garden of Eden and environs.
Every effort is being made to restore service to these areas in the shortest time possible, GPL said.
