Elite League Season VII

Drama and goals were the order of the night yesterday when the Elite League Season VII continued with another double header at the National Training Centre, Providence. There was a walkover victory for Western Tigers while league leaders Slingerz FC administered a 7-0 thrashing of Santos FC.

Mainstay Gold Star FC failed to turn up for their match against Western Tigers and unconfirmed reports suggest that they did so without communicating with the Guyana Football Federation (GFF). A source who spoke under cover of anonymity said that three Georgetown-based players from the Essequibo based club showed up at the venue but the rest of the team never did. While this publication contacted the GFF with questions about a reason for Mainstay’s absence; whether or not there would be disciplinary repercussions and if the club had communicated ahead of the no-show, at press time there were no answers to be had. In the end, Western Tigers were awarded the victory via walkover much to the disappointment of their supporters who showed up in their numbers.
