Region Two rice farmers concerned over price, intake

Rice farmers in Region Two are urging the Guyana Rice Development Board (GRDB) to intervene in the current crop cycle by purchasing paddy directly and ensuring more buyers are introduced to the regional market.

At present, only one buyer— Nazeemul Hakh—is operating in the area, leaving farmers concerned about low prices and slow intake. Farmers gathered near the Anna Regina High Bridge this week to voice their frustrations.
