(Trinidad Express) A Couva man who was left in critical condition after a drive-by shooting outside a popular Orange Valley bar last month has died.

Police confirmed that 45-year-old Vishram Polay passed away on Thursday, while undergoing treatment at hospital. Polay had been fighting for his life since the November 20 attack.

Around 8:20 p.m. on the night of the shooting, Polay was seated on a chair outside the Silver Dollar Bar on Bay Road, Orange Valley, in the company of the bar’s owner when a silver-coloured Nissan Tiida, registration pulled up beside them.

According to investigators, two men—one in the front passenger seat and another in the rear left seat—pointed firearms at Polay and opened fire.

The attackers then sped off heading west before circling back and fleeing east.

One of the bar’s patrons placed Polay in a vehicle and rushed him to the Couva Health Facility. Doctors were able to stabilise him before transferring him to the San Fernando General Hospital for further treatment.

Up to yesterday, no one had been arrested in connection with the murder.
