National Security Tower 90% completed – INews Guyana

The Government of Guyana continues to advance the modernisation of the Guyana Police Force with construction of the National Security Tower, also known as the New Brickdam Police Headquarters, now 90 percent complete.

On Wednesday, Sr Ashni Singh, M.P., Senior Minister within the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance, who is performing the functions of Minister of Home Affairs, inspected the 11-storey facility along with Commissioner of Police Dr. Clifton Hicken, Permanent Secretary Mr. Andre Ally, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Simon McBean and representatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs, R. Bassoo and Sons and CNQC.

During the visit, the delegation was given a guided walk-through of the building, where they examined the progress of works, the layout, and the planned operational use of the facility. Minister Singh said the project is more than the reconstruction of the Brickdam Police Station, noting that it forms part of the broader agenda of His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, to build a modern, intelligence-driven Police Force equipped with advanced infrastructure, technology, transportation, surveillance, and crime-fighting capabilities.

Upon completion, the New Brickdam Police Headquarters/National Security Tower will house all services currently being offered at the Guyana Police Force Headquarters at Eve Leary, creating a centralized, modern and technologically advanced policing hub.

Commissioner Hicken also emphasized that expanded police infrastructure is critical as Guyana continues to experience rapid development, noting that the facility will significantly enhance the Force’s operational capacity and support more efficient, people-centred policing.
