Linden teen shot dead by 21-year-old boyfriend in suspected murder-suicide – INews Guyana

A 17-year-old student of the Linden Technical Institute was shot dead on Monday by her boyfriend, who later turned the gun on himself at Block 22 Squatting Area, Wismar, Linden.

Dead are Toisha Andrew of Block 22 squatting Area Wismar Linden and 21-year-old Anthony Kellon Malachi Cato, a ten-day worker of Phase 3 Murphy Street Amelia Ward Linden.

Based on information received, the now-dead teenager returned home from school at about 16:30 hrs when Cato walked up to her with a gun in his hands and discharged one round in her direction, hitting her to the forehead.

She reportedly fell onto the ground. After committing the act, Cato turned the gun on himself.

Andrew was taken to the Linden Hospital complex, where she was pronounced dead.

A .32 pistol suspected to be the murder weapon was found next to Cato’s body.

Detectives are continuing their investigations.
