Man killed after crashing into parked truck on WCD Public Road – INews Guyana

𝑷𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒃𝒆 𝑭𝒂𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝑹𝒐𝒂𝒅 𝑰𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒂𝒕 𝑹𝒐𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒅𝒂𝒎, 𝑾.𝑪.𝑫.

Police are investigating a fatal road incident which occurred on Saturday October 31, 2026, about 06:30hrs on the Rotterdam Public Road, West Coast Demerara, involving motor car HD 6649 driven by 41-year-old Wendell Softley of Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara, and motor lorry GAG 1054.

Preliminary investigations disclosed that the motor car was proceeding west along the southern driving lane, allegedly at a fast rate of speed, when the driver reportedly lost control, ran off the roadway and collided with the front of the motor lorry, which was stationary on the southern parapet.

As a result of the collision, Softley was removed from the driver’s seat in an unconscious state by Emergency Medical Technicians and taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty.

The body was escorted to Ezekiel Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

CCTV footage was obtained and reviewed as part of the investigation.

Investigations continue.
