Sir Mars crushed to death in EBD incident; Suspect being sought – News Source Guyana

Longtime Educator and popular theatre personality, Kirwyn Mars aka “Sir Mars” was killed on Sunday night outside a house in Perseverance on the East Bank of Demerara, after he was mowed down by someone driving his car.

Police investigators are still working to piece together all the details of the incident, and are said to be examining surveillance video from the area.

Investigators are treating the incident as a suspected murder.

According to reports, Mars and the suspect got into a confrontation near his car that appeared to have been parked on a bridge.

As the teacher was reportedly making his way to the driver’s side, the suspect reversed the car into him, pinning part of his body underneath it and the other part against a fence. The suspect who is believed to have also been injured, escaped from the scene, leaving the teacher pinned.

Another car was seen, blocking the vehicle owned by Sir Mars. Investigators also found a bloodied small cutlass at the scene of the crime.

The bloodied body of the teacher was left at the scene for over an hour as crime scene investigators were summoned. Investigators were forced to call in the Guyana Fire Service for assistance to remove the car from on top of the teacher’s body.

News Source understands that the Police have since received information about the identity of the suspect.

The matter is under full investigation.
