Carter Center calls on GECOM to detail tabulation procedures, says has no evidence of list inflation

In its pre-election statement on Tuesday, the Carter Center called on GECOM to provide details of tabulation procedures in voting districts and it said it had seen no evidence to date of inflation of the voters list.

The Georgia, US-based Center will be monitoring the September 1st general elections.

The statement noted that new administrative arrangements have been introduced to the Representation of the People Act (RoPA) that decentralise the tabulation process to the subdistrict level in the three most populous regions – Three, Four, and Six. It noted that each of these subdistricts will have a supernumerary Returning Officer to perform functions within the subdistricts similar to those carried out at the district level by returning officers.
