Brother and sister drown in Enterprise trench
-residents say no warning signs at worksite
Two children died yesterday after falling into a trench at Enterprise, East Coast Demerara, just behind the Guyana Water Inc. pump station.
Jadon De Courte, 10, and his eight- year-old sister, Tiana De Courte, were both pupils of Paradise Primary School.
The children’s mother Tesha De Courte told Stabroek News at the family’s Lot 17 Melanie Public Road, East Coast Demerara home that they were playing Phagwah when Tiana attempted to fill a water gun in the trench outside the GWI facility and slipped into the water. Jadon, she explained, rushed to her assistance but also fell into the trench.
