Vendors unhappy over removal order from 1763 Monument site

Several vendors operating around the 1763 Monument at D’Urban Park have expressed dissatisfaction with a decision by the Mayor and City Council (M&CC) of Georgetown to remove them from the area within 14 days.

A visit by Stabroek News to the monument’s tarmac on Thursday found a number of vendors worried about the impact the move will have on their livelihoods, while also raising questions about the way the council handled the issue.

The council announced earlier this week that all vendors operating around the monument must vacate the site within two weeks or face removal by municipal authorities.
