Mabaruma to benefit from multi-purpose hall to strengthen community development

Residents of Mabaruma, Region One, are set to benefit from a new $223 million multi-purpose hall, as the government continues to expand investment in community infrastructure and youth development across the country.

Minister within the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, Steven Jacobs, visited the construction site on Friday to assess progress on the facility, which is expected to provide a modern space for indoor sports, youth programmes, cultural activities and community events.

During his Region One visit, Minister Jacobs also met with Regional Democratic Council (RDC) officials, the Mayor, Community Development Council (CDC) Chairs and other community leaders to discuss ongoing and future investments in sports infrastructure.

The discussions focused on the development and upgrading of community grounds through targeted funding, while creating more opportunities for young people to participate in sports and other developmental programmes.

Minister Jacobs said the government remains committed to ensuring communities across Region One and the wider country have access to facilities that support youth empowerment, healthy lifestyles and community growth.

The multi-purpose hall forms part of government’s broader agenda to strengthen sports infrastructure and provide residents, particularly young people, with improved spaces for recreation, training and community engagement.
