210 more homes being built in Palmyra

An additional 210 homes are being built in Palmyra, Region Six, as the area continues to expand into a major residential community to provide families and young professionals with greater opportunities to own their homes.

The development includes 110 three-bedroom young professional flat houses, alongside an additional 100 three-bedroom bungalow homes, with construction progressing as part of a wider plan to build out the area.

Minister of Housing Collin Croal said the focus is on providing completed homes rather than simply allocating house lots, allowing more families to transition into homeownership.

The 110 young professional homes are being offered at a construction cost of $19.5 million, while the three-bedroom bungalow units are sold at a cost of $13 million.

Applications are open to eligible beneficiaries and other interested applicants who are already in the housing system. Additionally, the homes are being sold at construction cost, with no profit added.

Interested applicants can engage the Region Six Housing Office to be screened and referred to financial institutions for prequalification.

Meanwhile, Minister Croal explained that applicants’ income levels will be assessed to determine the type of home they can reasonably afford, ensuring the programme caters to different income groups.

The initiative is also creating employment opportunities, with approximately 50 contractors engaged in the construction of the homes, many of whom are from the region.
