Woman dies, husband critical after gas bottle erupts in fire – police – INews Guyana

On Friday April 18, 2025 at about 01:30hrs Patricia Williams, Female Guyanese of Amerindian Descent aged 55 years, of Adventure, Linden Soesdyke Highway reported that at about 00:30hrs she was at home asleep when she was awoken by shouts of help from her son, Kevin Cadogan, Male Guyanese of Amerindian Descent, aged 34 years, a Labourer of Moblissa, Linden Highway who was in company with his reputed wife Mezona Ronaldo Female Guyanese of Amerindian Descent, aged 20 years with burns about their bodies.

She claimed to have questioned them and they both alleged that Mezona was cooking in the kitchen and the gas bottle caught afire and he (Kevin) went and held unto (Mezona) to put the fire out. Patricia Williams further claimed that she got a taxi and took them both to the Mackenzie Hospital, where they were both seen and medically examined by a doctor who referred them to the GPHC for further medical attention.

They were both placed in an ambulance and escorted to the GPHC where Mezona Ronaldo succumbed while receiving medical attention, and Kevin admitted. His condition is regarded as critical.

Detectives from Regional Divisions #4’B’ and #10 visited the scene at about 13:00h.

Investigations are ongoing.
