The police today searched Mohamed’s Enterprise on Lombard Street.

Gold trader Azruddin Mohamed, Leader of the Opposition was present during the search and upbraided the police for what he said was political persecution. He said that the government had already shut down his business.

Mohamed suggested that the police search Freedom House, the headquarters of the ruling PPP/C, to which he said that he had given hundreds of millions.

He also suggested that the police search the masjid in the building where he said President Irfaan Ali had prayed.

Mohamed had the police confirm that no gold had been found. A small amount of money that Mohamed said was used to take care of the indigent was taken by the police.

The police also escorted several employees for questioning.

Mohamed accused the police of victimisation as he was standing up to the PPP.

He added that from 2015 to 2020 he supported the PPP with the payment of power bills and other things. He said that he had helped General Secretary Bharrat Jagdeo and Ali and accused them of ingratitude.
