Injured taxi driver in road rage stabbing dies – INews Guyana

The taxi driver who was stabbed during an argument with another driver on Friday evening has succumbed to his injuries.

The dead man has been identified as 36-year-old Casey Chapman of South Sophia, Greater Georgetown.

Based on police reports, Chapman was driving along Farmers Field, Plum Park, Sophia at around 23:45 hours when another vehicle driven by the suspect approached from the opposite direction. Both vehicles ended up alongside each other, and neither was able to pass freely. An argument then ensued between the two drivers, which escalated into a physical altercation.

Police say the suspect allegedly armed himself with a knife and dealt the victim a stab to the middle of his chest, after which the blade broke and remained lodged in the victim’s chest.

An injured Chapman drove himself to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was hospitalised in a critical condition and later succumbed.

The suspect, a 34-year-old painter of South Sophia, was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody.
