National Independence Visual Arts Expo opens at Castellani House – INews Guyana
The National Independence Visual Arts Exhibition opened on Thursday evening at Castellani House under the theme “The Independent Artist.”
Featuring the work of more than 54 artists, the exhibition celebrates Guyana’s rich creativity, culture, and artistic talent as part of Guyana’s 60th Independence Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
Speaking at the event was Steven Jacobs MP, Minister within the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport who highlighted the significance of the exhibition as part of the nation’s Independence celebrations and also spoke on the importance of Guyana’s growing orange economy, emphasising the value of investing in the country’s creative industries and the role artists and creatives play in national development.
The feature address was delivered by Charles Ramson MP, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport who spoke about the ongoing renovations and enhancements to Castellani House, including the development of the garden space designed to inspire artists and creatives to draw, paint, and create outdoors.
Minister Ramson also revealed plans for more murals to be established across Georgetown and other regions throughout Guyana to further showcase and celebrate Guyanese artistry, an initiative supported by President Irfaan Ali.
He further underscored the importance of art and creativity in telling Guyana’s story and history, while reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to continuing investment in artists and creatives across Guyana.
The exhibition will run from May 15 to June 12 from 9:00am to 5:00pm daily.
